Accent Wall Wallpaper Guide
An accent wall is the most cost-effective wallpaper application -- you're papering one wall instead of four, which reduces material cost by 70-75% and installation time by about 60%. The visual impact, however, is nearly as strong as a full room. Choose the wall that draws the eye: behind the bed in a bedroom, the fireplace wall in a living room, or behind the dining table.
Estimating an accent wall is simpler than a full room: wall width x ceiling height, minus any openings, divided by the coverage per roll. For a 12-foot wall at 8 feet high with no openings: 96 sq ft ÷ 27 sq ft per single roll = 3.6 → 4 single rolls (2 double rolls).
Pattern matching is easier on a single wall -- fewer joints mean fewer alignment decisions. Bold patterns that might overwhelm a full room work beautifully on a single accent wall.
