Paver Calculators

Paver Calculator

Paver count, base gravel, leveling sand, and edge restraint for patios, walkways, and driveways.

Plan Your Paver Project

Paver patios and walkways require three material layers: a compacted gravel base, a leveling sand bed, and the pavers themselves. The Paver Calculator estimates all three from your project dimensions and paver size. It also calculates edge restraint — the often-forgotten component that keeps pavers from shifting at the perimeter.

Unlike poured concrete, pavers can be lifted and reset if the base settles — but only if the base was done right in the first place. Plan for 6 inches of compacted crushed stone base and 1 inch of leveling sand per ICPI standards.

Paver projects need crushed gravel for the base and concrete sand for the leveling layer. For areas adjacent to the paver patio, mulch or landscape rock complete the hardscape-to-landscape transition. And if you're deciding between pavers and a poured surface, the Concrete Slab Calculator estimates the alternative.
